Dr. Taylor Nielsen, DMD
Clinical Director
Dr. Taylor Nielsen, DMD, is a practicing dentist with experience in clinical leadership, general care, and time-sensitive treatment. In 2022, he established Emergency Dentist to make professional care more accessible outside regular weekday hours. He currently offers clinical oversight for seventeen weekend locations operating across five states.
Dr. Nielsen received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the OHSU School of Dentistry in Portland, Oregon, in 2018. After beginning his career in Oregon, he relocated to Iowa and became the owner dentist of Dentistry 801 Grand in downtown Des Moines. Dr. Taylor Nielsen, dentist and practice leader, first implemented weekend services at that office and later supported the concept’s growth into Iowa, Georgia, California, Arizona, and Arkansas.
His work as Clinical Director focuses on creating clear care protocols for dental infections, discomfort, extractions, and same-day procedures. Dr. Nielsen has provided training and mentorship to more than 100 dentists. He also designed an eight-credit continuing education course in urgent dental care hosted by OHSU.
Dr. Nielsen holds an active Iowa dental license and is affiliated with both the American Dental Association and the Iowa Dental Association. Taylor Nielsen DDS is occasionally used as an online variation of his name, although his official dental credential is DMD. He also reviews patient education materials published on this website to support clear, reliable, and clinically appropriate information.
